Giving Special Help to Those with Special Needs

“The simplicity, the trusting, the spontaneity… they teach you all that. I feel this is one of God’s greatest blessings for me. I and the catechists always say we get more out of it than what we put into it. They have taught me more of what God has called me to be than any teacher in college,” – Sister Elaine Raymond

Sister Elaine Raymond says the ministry is a journey of friendship, love, and a deepening relationship with Christ for program participants, catechists, and SPRED volunteers.

For more than 40 years, Sister Elaine has depended on the Foundation’s endowment funding to spread the word of Christ’s love to children and adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities. SPRED volunteers in Saginaw, Midland, Maple Grove, and Caro follow an intuitive model of deepening relationships and use symbols to educate the students.

“The simplicity, the trusting, the spontaneity… they teach you all that. I feel this is one of God’s greatest blessings for me. I and the catechists always say we get more out of it than what we put into it. They have taught me more of what God has called me to be than any teacher in college,” says Sister Elaine.
